Volcanogenic Massive Sulphide (VMS) deposits, similar to our Lara deposit, are one of the richest sources of metals such as copper, lead, and zinc globally(5). They can also produce economic amounts of gold and silver as byproducts of mining these deposits(5). VMS deposits account for 22% of zinc, 9.7% of lead, 6% of copper, 8.7% of silver and 2.2% of gold globally(5).
VMS deposits form in submarine environments associated with volcanic activities(6). The close association with volcanic rocks and eruptive centers sets VMS deposits apart from similar ore deposit types(6). These deposits are forming today on the seafloor around undersea volcanoes along many mid-ocean ridges, and within back-arc basins and forearc rifts(6).
British Columbia: A Premier Mining Jurisdiction
British Columbia (BC) is a global leader in the mining industry(1). It is Canada’s largest mining province, generating over $18 billion in revenue from the industry in 2022 (2). BC is home to a wealth of global industry experts and a bustling exploration activity with 326 active exploration projects and over 1.4 million meters of exploration drilling in 2021(3).
The province is committed to providing effective oversight of this important sector(1). It has a stable, transparent, and effective policy environment, ranking as the world’s least risky for mining in 2017 and 2018(2). BC is also developing a critical minerals strategy to help mitigate climate change, grow the provincial economy, and ensure resilient supply chains to partner nations(4).
Why BC is Ideal for Mining VMS Deposits
BC’s diverse geology and rich mineral endowment make it an ideal location for mining VMS deposits(2). The province’s commitment to socially and environmentally responsible resource development, coupled with its robust regulatory framework, ensures that mining operations are conducted in a manner that is sustainable and respectful of the environment(1)(2).
At Nova Pacific Metals Corp., we are proud to be part of BC’s vibrant mining sector. We invite you to join us as we explore and develop the Lara VMS deposit, contributing to the province’s economic growth and the global transition to a low-carbon future(2).
Investment Highlights
Significant Historical Resource Estimate
With over 323 drill holes completed a promising early resource estimate has already been established.
Potential to Significantly Increase Resource Estimate
Exploration to date has focused on only one of four identified zones within or potentially trending onto the property, indicating strong potential to increase the resource estimate.
Strategic Location & Infrastructure
The Lara project is situated in a top tier North American mining jurisdiction, with excellent access to infrastructure from roads to power lines and port.
Diverse Multi Metal Resource
Drilling has revealed significant intersections containing zinc, copper, gold, silver, and lead.
Proven Leadership and Expertise
Nova Pacific’s leadership team brings over four decades of mining experience with significant prior discoveries.
Commodity Super Cycle
Geopolitical conflict, economic uncertainty, and increased demand from green technology transition indicates that we may be entering into a commodity super cycle.
